OnePlus Open: A New Era of Foldable Phones
With the recent official entry of Samsung’s new foldable phones, OnePlus doesn’t want to be left behind. The company has teased the name of its first foldable phone, and it’s not what you would expect. Let’s dive into the details.
Introducing the OnePlus Open
Just before the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, OnePlus sent out a tweet suggesting that its upcoming foldable smartphone will be called the OnePlus Open, deviating from the usual ‘Fold’ suffix that is commonly associated with foldable phones. Previously, it was rumored to be named the OnePlus V Fold.
While it’s not a direct confirmation, we strongly believe that OnePlus has decided on the name OnePlus Open for its foldable device. Rumors suggest that this phone will feature a unique open-like-a-book mechanism, setting it apart from the flip phones currently available in the market.

Leaked renders of the OnePlus Open show that the device will come with a prominent camera hump, similar to the design of the OnePlus 11. Additionally, it is expected to feature cameras developed in partnership with Hasselblad. The primary camera is rumored to be 48MP, accompanied by a 48MP ultra-wide lens and a 64MP telephoto lens. For selfies, the phone may have a 20MP front camera for the outer display and a 32MP front camera for the inner display.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Open is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, offering exceptional performance. It may come with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and ample space for your files and apps. The phone is also rumored to sport a 4,800mAh battery with 100W fast charging support, guaranteeing quick and efficient recharging. Software-wise, the OnePlus Open is expected to run OxygenOS 13.1 based on the latest Android 13.
While the exact launch date and price of the OnePlus Open are yet to be confirmed, speculations suggest that it will be unveiled on August 29 in New York. However, OnePlus has not released any official details regarding the launch event. We will keep you updated as soon as OnePlus announces more information. So, stay tuned.
