New Design Leak for OnePlus Open Foldable Phone
Since the day OnePlus confirmed its entry into the foldable market, the OnePlus Open has become one of the most highly anticipated launches of 2023. The constant stream of leaks and rumors has only added to the excitement. From the initial renders to the subtle hints about the device’s name, the OnePlus Open has managed to capture the interest of potential buyers. And now, a leaked design overhaul is further fueling the anticipation for this foldable phone.
Fresh Renders Reveal OnePlus Open’s New Design
Renowned tipster OnLeaks, in collaboration with SmartPrix, has shared some fresh renders of the upcoming OnePlus Open foldable phone. These renders suggest that OnePlus is adopting a design similar to that of Oppo and Google for its debut foldable smartphone.
The OnePlus Open bears a striking resemblance to the recently announced Google Pixel Fold and the Oppo Find N2. It is expected to have a book-like closing mechanism, with a wider aspect ratio compared to its previous renders and its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.
The design changes include a flat mid-frame with rounded edges and the iconic Alert Slider. On the back, there is a large circular camera bump that houses a triple camera system and features the Hasselblad branding. A circular cutout beneath the Hasselblad branding suggests the presence of a Time-of-Flight (TOF) or LiDAR sensor. Just below the camera bump, the OnePlus logo can be seen.

The smartphone will also feature a quad-speaker setup, with two speakers at the bottom and two at the top. The bottom edge will house the USB Type-C port and 5G antenna bands.
Now, let’s talk about the displays. The outer display will be wider to accommodate the book-like aspect ratio, with rounded corners and narrow bezels throughout. It will also house the center punch-hole selfie camera. The inner foldable display will also have a wide aspect ratio, thin uniform bezels, and a punch-hole cutout for the inner selfie camera.
When it comes to the specifications of the device, recent rumors suggest that the OnePlus Open will feature a 7.8-inch Quad-HD+ AMOLED foldable display and a 6.3-inch AMOLED outer display. Both displays are expected to have a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a minimum of 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage.
A 4,800mAh battery is expected to provide the necessary power, with support for 67W fast charging. In terms of camera capabilities, the OnePlus Open will likely have a 48MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto lens. Additionally, leaks suggest the presence of a TOF or LiDAR sensor. The outer punch-hole camera is expected to be 32MP, while the inner selfie camera could be 20MP. The device will ship with Oxygen OS 13 based on Android 13, specifically optimized for the wide-aspect foldable form factor.
Regarding the launch date, there have been recent leaks indicating a potential delay due to OnePlus switching display suppliers from BOE to Samsung. Initially, the launch was expected on August 29.
It is important to note that these leaks and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt for now. We will continue to keep you updated on all the latest leaks and rumors surrounding the OnePlus Open. Stay tuned for further updates.
